What you are responsible for

You actively develop E.ON’s capabilities and competitive advantage in quantum computing; You deliver high-quality quantum computing projects, secure adherence to E.ON business priorities and value potentials. You strengthen and build strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, increase the portfolio of business relevant use cases benefitting from quantum advantage. You help improving and prioritizing the E.ON QC research agenda according to quantum computing ecosystem developments (hardware and software) and to E.ON business needs.  You determine the best approaches and formulations to realize business-value driven problems on NISQC devices. You contribute hands-on to innovative energy-specific quantum (and quantum-classical hybrid) algorithms development, testing, and benchmarking. You implement Quantum Proof-of-concept into production-ready code, support the deployment of productive solutions together with product owners, data engineers and data architects. You compare and benchmark quantum results to classical implementations and suggest possibilities to bring them towards scalable productive solutions and early quantum advantage. You secure and protect E.ON QC related intellectual property (and if applicable publish scientific articles). You network and engage in the quantum community to foster academic and industry collaborations. You co-supervise M.Sc. and PhD students You increase efficiency and reduce time-to-market by implementing re-usable AI/ML models and QC algorithms You contribute towards QC evangelization (E.ON internally) and employer branding (E.ON externally) by engaging with key business stakeholders, and by speaking at conferences, writing articles and being active on social media.

What you are good at

You have a degree/PhD in Computer Science, Quantum Computing, a related technical discipline, or other significant work experience.

You have and extensive knowledge of quantum hardware and software technological stacks.

You have advanced knowledge of Quantum Machine Learning and of Post-Quantum-Cryptography (PQC) algorithms, of QC data encoding procedures and of existing quantum computing algorithms such as QAOA, VQE, HHL etc.

You have a clear understanding of computational complexity theory and of when/where/why quantum algorithms are appropriate and of potential advantage with respect to best-in-class classical solutions.

You have extensive hands-on coding experience in data science and quantum computing. You master the related state-of-the art software libraries and toolkits (scikit-learn, Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Azure ML , Qiskit, Ocean, etc.)

You have a passion for science and problem solving by working on data, paired with a strong motivation to deliver valuable solutions for business needs.

You know how to efficiently implement end-to-end pipelines to ingest data and deploy analytical modules in cloud-based environments like Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Working with git and CI/CD flows is preferred by you.

You have excellent writing and communication skills, considering varying levels of precision and matching the audience.

You enjoy collaborating internationally and across cultural borders

You are fluent in English; German language skills are seen as a plus.

Familiarity with the energy industry and energy transition is considered as a plus.

What you can expect from a Career in E.ON Digital Technology

We offer the unique opportunity to combine your love for technology with your passion to work on a topic of high relevance for society. You will be able to contribute to E.ON’s ambitious digitalization strategy, to apply and broaden your expertise on a variety of assignments, to work with cutting edge technology and to have the opportunity to grow your career internationally across the wider organization.
