We are looking for a skilled ML/AI developer with a passion for creating intelligent, interactive software to join our team. Your role will be to support the development of our document understanding system with application to invoice processing. The role of this system is the semi-automated handling of tens of thousands of invoice documents per year. Using cutting-edge approaches our system extracts structured data from unstructured documents and combines it with our database information to achieve very high accuracy understanding of these documents. 
 
In this role, you will be involved in all aspects of the project, have the ability to experiment in a supportive environment with cutting-edge technology and gain valuable real-world experience in a development team. As a working student your connection to academia and insight into the state of the art of the AI field will be a valued addition to our team. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual that is passionate to bring theory into practice in a collaborative team environment.

  •  Collect and structure the requirements for implementing AI/ML and conversational UIs 
  • Architect the infrastructure for supporting these requirements and select the technologies and algorithms 
  • Perform quantitative analysis and implement the production data transformation routines 
  • Implement the interface to our production system and help in delivering the complete solution 
  • Monitor and maintain the complete solution in collaboration with our operations team 
  • Participate in the strategic and operational planning of the development process 
  • Educate the team on promising new approaches to AI/ML and established best practices

  • BSc Degree in Computer Science or related field (late semester students also welcome) 
  • Solid background in deep learning & ML, in particular techniques for evaluating ML models 
  • Experience in data analysis using the PyData Stack (Pandas, matplotlib & pytorch) 
  • Experience with LLM prompting and fine-tuning 
  • Experience developing web applications using Ruby on Rails or Python strongly desired 
  • Excellent problem solving skills 
  • Very good English skills, German skills advantageous
