Cata Labs, the team behind Catalyst, is seeking a skilled Web3 Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our cross-chain Automated Market Maker (AMM) platform. As a Web3 Backend Engineer (Relayer), you will play a crucial role in developing our cross-chain and cross-messaging protocol relayer and other contract adjacent software, enabling seamless communication between multiple chains to facilitate asset swaps.

As part of our contracts team, you will contribute directly to the next generation of cross-chain applications. You will work on implementing new features, extending messaging protocol support, adding chain support, increasing reliability, and working directly with partners to ensure proper operation. Improving support for new cross-chain messaging protocols and adding further chain support requires you to work with various partner protocols; read various reference implementations in Typescript, Rust, and Go; and understand smart contract implementations in Solidity, Rust, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Owning the design, implementation, and pipeline for off-chain systems.
  • Extend off-chain systems compatibility with new ecosystems, including new VMs and new messaging protocols.
  • Working with partners to operate the off-chain infrastructure, including providing support to problems that arise during usage.
  • Ensure seamless communication and interoperability between multiple blockchain networks.
  • Optimize the performance and scalability of the relayer to handle high volumes of transactions and liquidity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience as a Web3 Backend Engineer or similar role, with a focus on Smart Contract, relayer infrastructure and/or MEV.
  • Strong proficiency in web3 technologies and protocols, with a deep understanding of blockchain interoperability concepts.
  • Experience with backend development using languages like TypeScript and Nest.js.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize performance and scalability of backend systems. Strong desire and ability to learn new programming languages to understand implementations in unfamiliar programming languages.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a remote team.
  • Passion for crypto and blockchain ecosystems and a desire to contribute to the growth of the industry.
