Responsibilities
Defining, obtaining and enforcing legally valid intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, utility models and designs) in Germany and abroad
Representing the Evonik group and its cooperation partners before (inter)national authorities and courts on one's won responsibility
Challenging third-party intellectual property rights and defending against attacks by third parties
Preparing expert opinions and evaluating own and third-party property rights positions in Germany and abroad prior to the market launch of new products and large-scale technical processes as well as in the processing of research projects
Participating in and, if necessary, initiation of the development and implementation of property rights strategies
Monitoring and enforcing compliance with applicable regulations and statutory provisions on patent, utility model, trademark and employee invention law
Advising on research, cooperation, licensing and non-disclosure agreements
Reviewing and approving new products, brochures, packaging and publications
Requirements
Successfully completed studies in chemistry or chemical process engineering, preferably in the field of organic, inorganic, or polymer chemistry
Successfully completed qualification as a professional representative before the European Patent Office
Several years of professional experience in an industrial company, preferably in the chemical sector; alternatively, professional experience in a private law firm
Preferably, experience in dealing with universities and other research cooperation projects
Proficient in English; good knowledge of French and/or German desirable
Strategic thinking, negotiation skills and strong customer orientation, with passion for research and innovation and the capability to quickly understand technological developments
Integrative personality with strong communication skills and team spirit in an international environment
High degree of self-initiative and flexibility
