Your mission Join us in developing and operating our First-of-a-Kind (tFOAK) facility. As a Process Engineer for Separation Systems, you’ll design, test, and optimize key process units that define how efficiently our system captures CO₂. You’ll work at the intersection of experimental development, process modeling, and system design, collaborating closely with internal simulation team and external partners. Expect a hands-on environment with fast feedback loops, where your work directly shapes the next generation of DAC plants. Key points Design and optimize separation processes, focusing on gas–liquid behavior, flow dynamics, and water management using tools like AspenPlus and KGTower. Collaborate with internal and external simulation partners to define model requirements, validate CFD and process models with empirical data, and translate findings into practical engineering improvements. Design and operate experimental test systems to generate data, validate assumptions, and accelerate understanding of key separation and flow phenomena. Drive process engineering and documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, valve and pipe sizing, safety reviews, and compliance with regulatory standards. Capture and share learnings through structured documentation and continuous benchmarking of emerging research and industrial best practices.

Your profile
Skills & Experience Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field. 7+ years of process engineering experience, with a strong track record of leading or coordinating engineering work across multiple projects Proven experience managing engineering change — from design updates and deviation handling to formal change control processes Solid background in process safety, including HAZOP facilitation, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance Strong command of process engineering documentation standards: PFDs, P&IDs, H&MBs, valve and pipe sizing, and safety reviews Experience working with simulation teams or external technical partners to align models with design requirements Familiarity with novel or first-of-a-kind process development environments is a strong plus Workstyle and culture Thinks in systems and owns outcomes — not just tasks Fast learner who quickly grasps complex topics and stays curious about the problem, not just the solution Combines scientific rigour with pragmatic, hands-on, build-and-learn instincts Authentic, reflective, and self-organised — brings structure without losing speed Comfortable with ambiguity and effective at working across cross-functional teams Clear and direct communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with strong active listening skills Other Valid Work Permit for Germany, or able to obtain a permit

About Us
We are an early startup with a big vision
- remove 500 million tons of global CO2 emissions from the air by 2035 through Direct Air Capture, roughly the same weight as all humans on earth combined To meet our climate targets the reduction of CO2 emissions is not enough, the world actively has to remove billions of tons of CO2 from our atmosphere. To achieve that we at Ucaneo develop an innovative electrochemical Direct Air Capture technology mimicking the human lung to remove CO2 from ambient air. We are a science and mission-driven team, fast-moving with a break-or-make attitude. Our office and industrial hall is located at Schwarze-Pumpe-Weg 16, 12681 Berlin including a large outdoor area to build one of the largest industrial DAC plants in Germany. Our commitment to you: Impact: You will work on the biggest problem of our time, climate change, with the potential to impact the lives of billions of people Day to day: Full responsibility to design your own workstream and control your
