ICODOS is a clean-tech company developing e-methanol technology that integrates carbon capture with methanol synthesis. We are hiring a full-time, permanent Instrumentation & Control Engineer (m/f/d) for a remote role based in Germany or Spain. Your mission Own instrumentation and control engineering across ICODOS e-methanol plants—from P&IDs and instrument specifications through automation, testing and commissioning—to deliver safe, reliable and dynamically operable systems. What you will achieve
• Develop, configure, program, test and troubleshoot DCS, SIS, PLC and SCADA systems for reliable process control and equipment integration.
• Specify and integrate field instruments, control valves and analyzers. Prepare and review instrument datasheets, I/O lists, P&IDs and control philosophies.
• Design secure OT/IT architectures for remote plant operation, including industrial communications, remote access, data acquisition, alarm management and fault handling.
• Support functional-safety assessments and implement safe operating sequences, interlocks and communication-loss strategies, applying IEC 61511 and relevant standards.
• Coordinate engineering contractors and automation suppliers; review technical deliverables and support FAT, SAT, instrumentation testing and commissioning. What you bring
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Instrumentation, Automation, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5–10 years of I&C experience in chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, hydrogen, power-to-X or similar process industries.
• Hands-on experience in instrumentation engineering and DCS, PLC or SCADA configuration, programming or troubleshooting.
• Experience with remote or centrally supervised facilities, OT/IT architecture, industrial networks and communication protocols.
• Knowledge of process control, operating sequences, alarm management and functional safety, including IEC 61511.
• Experience preparing I&C documentation, coordinating suppliers, and supporting FAT/SAT, commissioning or start-up.
• Ownership, systematic problem-solving, engineering rigor, safety awareness and strong communication.
