Takara Bio is seeking to recruit an experienced NGS Sales Specialist for Germany and Switzerland with strong life science sales experience and broad expertise across NGS and Spatial Biology workflows and applications. The NGS Sales Specialist is responsible for driving growth of Takara Bio’s NGS and Spatial Biology portfolio across Academic, Hospital, Government, Pharma, and Biotech accounts in Germany and Switzerland. The role requires a commercially driven and scientifically strong individual capable of identifying and developing new business opportunities, supporting advanced workflow discussions, progressing complex sales opportunities, and building strong relationships with researchers, core facilities, KOLs, and decision-makers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong consultative selling capability, technical understanding, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the Regional Sales Manager, Territory Managers, Inside Sales, Marketing, Technical Support, Product Management, and other specialist teams. This is an individual contributor role with no formal team leadership or people-management responsibility. The specialist is expected to work collaboratively with the wider commercial team to identify, develop, and close NGS and Spatial Biology opportunities across Germany and Switzerland. Core tasks / main responsibilities Commercial Development
• Drive growth of Takara Bio’s NGS and Spatial Biology portfolio across Academic, Hospital, Pharma, Biotech, and Government accounts in Germany and Switzerland.
• Identify, qualify, develop, and progress new and existing business opportunities across the territory.
• Support workflow penetration and broader adoption of Takara Bio technologies within genomics, transcriptomics, and spatial biology research areas.
• Build strong relationships with KOLs, core facilities, principal investigators, and key decision-makers. Technical & Workflow Expertise
• Maintain strong knowledge of NGS and Spatial Biology workflows, applications, competitor technologies, and market trends.
• Conduct scientific discussions, workflow consultations, customer presentations, seminars, and product demonstrations.
• Support customers in evaluating and positioning Takara Bio solutions within broader research workflows and experimental strategies.
• Provide technical and commercial support during sales discussions and competitive opportunities. Opportunity Management & Forecasting
• Maintain accurate CRM records, including opportunities, forecasting data, customer interactions, and follow-up activities.
• Ensure pipeline quality, forecasting discipline, and opportunity progression align with company expectations and sales process standards.
• Provide visibility on key opportunities, market developments, and commercial risks within the territory. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate closely with the DACH Regional Sales Manager, Territory Managers, Inside Sales, Marketing, Product Managers, Technical Support, Field Application teams, and other NGS Specialists.
• Support regional campaigns, customer workshops, seminars, conferences, and commercial initiatives.
• Share market intelligence, customer feedback, competitor insights, and relevant commercial learnings across the organisation. Sales Team Support
• Act as an NGS and Spatial Biology specialist resource for Territory Managers and Inside Sales when developing customer opportunities.
• Support joint customer visits, opportunity discussions, and workflow positioning where specialist expertise is required.
• Work collaboratively with other NGS Specialists to share technical knowledge, market insights, and effective commercial approaches. Qualification: Mandatory:
• Minimum MSc or PhD in Cell, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline Desirable:
• Post-doctoral research experience involving NGS, transcriptomics, spatial biology, or related advanced molecular biology workflows.

Experience:
Mandatory:
• Minimum 2 years of sales experience within the life science or biotech sector, with exposure to NGS-related workflows and applications.
• Proven experience in business development and opportunity progression within life science sales.
• Experience supporting technical and commercial customer discussions.
• Experience working with core facilities, research groups, hospitals, biotech, pharma, or other relevant life science organisations.
• Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce for opportunity management and forecasting.
• High level understanding of the NGS and Spatial Biology market landscape, workflow trends, and competitive environment. Desirable:
• Strong hands-on laboratory or research experience involving NGS, sequencing workflows, transcriptomics, spatial biology, or related technologies.
• Experience selling NGS, Spatial Biology, or other advanced molecular biology solutions.
• Established networks within academic, biotech, pharma, hospital, or core-facility environments in Germany and/or Switzerland. Competences, skills and abilities: Mandatory:

• Strong scientific understanding of NGS and Spatial Biology workflows and associated applications.

The successful candidate must be located in Germany (near or commutable distance to a major international airport in Germany (Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, or Düsseldorf). The position involves regular travel across Germany and Switzerland for customer visits, seminars, conferences, internal meetings, and account development activities. Additional travel may be required for European meetings, training, or other business activities.
