Unit: School Of Medicine MBU Department: Radiation Oncology Department Summary: Established in 1987, VCU’s Department of Radiation Oncology provides a full range of clinical services at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center and its regional affiliated facilities. It is comprised of over 30 faculty in its three divisions, spanning five clinical locations and treating approximately 150 patients per day, with active, funded programs in clinical research, medical physics, and molecular radiobiology. Our team is an integral component of VCU’s Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of only two National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in Virginia. Our Radiation Oncology team is highly unified and collaborative, reflecting the discipline at large. Our faculty are committed to providing exceptional and compassionate patient-focused patient care, conducting cutting-edge research, and educating emerging attending providers, medical physicists, and dosimetrists to contribute to the ever-evolving field of Radiation Oncology. Our clinical services currently include Varian True Beam LINAC with body stereotactic capabilities and CT simulators available at the HMP and CMH community facilities. Additionally, there is access to the full complement of technological offerings of our downtown location (Adult Outpatient Pavilion/AOP): ETHOS Helical LINAC (installation in progress), MR LINAC (ViewRay), Varian EDGE for stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiotherapy, 3T MR simulator, and an image guided brachytherapy suite allowing adaptive treatment. Responsibilities:
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a board-certified Radiation Oncologist to provide clinical coverage in the form of consultative and external beam radiotherapy treatment services during times of physician absence at our downtown site or any of our satellite centers. Our department offers radiation oncology physician services at five distinct sites. Four of the five sites are located within 20 minutes of the main center in downtown Richmond, VA, and one is located in South Hill, VA. As an important part of our departmental team, hourly Radiation Oncologists consistently deliver excellent clinical care to our patient populations in ways that reflect current professional practice norms and skills and remain consistent with accepted medical practice guidelines. The incoming physician will collaborate with our faculty, nursing, physics, dosimetry, and technician teams to improve patient outcomes, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and promote patient safety and satisfaction.
* Clinical/Service: Time and effort [100%] shall be devoted to the provision of clinical services through core activities encompassed in the radiation oncology scope of practice, including, but not limited to: new patient consultations, follow-up visits, management of patients under treatment, brachytherapy procedures, participation in tumor boards and in QA conferences. Establishment and maintenance of clinical privileges at our downtown and satellite facilities (typically renewed on a two-year or three-year cycle) will also be required.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
* MD or DO degree (or equivalent) completed via an ACGME-accredited program
* Board certification in Radiation Oncology from the American Board of Radiology
* At least 5 years of clinical experience
* Ability to provide excellent clinical care across a broad range of disease sites in a multi-disciplinary oncology setting
* Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships in order to establish and maintain strong referral patterns
