Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.The heart of a spacecraft lies in its engine, and that's why we, at The Exploration Company, are dedicated to developing our own cutting-edge Propulsion Systems ensuring the highest level of efficiency and reliability in our space endeavors.We are seeking a talented Turbopump Mechanical Engineer to join our Future Project division. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing turbopump components for rocket engines.Key responsibilities:Making and documenting well-reasoned consequential decisions in turbomachinery designEngage proactively with development engineers to assist in the conception, refinement, and validation of designsCarrying out the thermomechanical design of cryogenic pump components and assemblies based on specifications and best practicesSupervision of external subcontractors and communication with suppliersAnalytical modeling of geometric and mechanical problems and implementing solutions in programsWhat we would love to see from you:Minimum of a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related and applicable technical discipline. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree with substantial relevant experienceStrong fundamentals in thermodynamics and mechanical designSome understanding of problems of machine dynamics, such as rotordynamicsGood knowledge of materialsGood understanding of industry standard and emerging manufacturing methods and their respective constraintsProficient in the use of 3D CAD software and draftingExperience writing software/scripts in languages like PythonStrong ability to work in close collaboration with othersStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong analysis and problem-solving skillsStrong research skills and ability to infer useful information from partial or even contradictory sourcesDrive towards excellence coupled with ability to work within time constraintsProficiency in organization and prioritization of tasksFluency in EnglishDesirable:Strong understanding of liquid-propellant rocket engines as a systemProven experience working with any kind of fast-rotating machineryHands-on experience developing hardware from concept to working prototypesWhy you should join usWhat makes us special here at The Exploration Company and why we think you will enjoy working here is: We're Agile - we make decisions fast whilst keeping our goals and systems in mindWe're Open and Collaborative - we are transparent about risks and obstacles, so that we can cooperate to overcome themWe have a lot of Fun - we refuel our energy knowing we are democratising space.
