Staff Engineer, Developer AI, Machine Learning

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience in the Machine Learning field.
• 5 years of experience developing with Python.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience in building products using Machine Learning techniques including Natural Language Processing (NLP).

• Solve ambiguous technical issues, applying Large Language Models (LLMs) to produce code edits.
• Set the technical direction and goals for the team, to solve use cases for Google. This will often mean engaging with leads in Core and in other PAs to identify opportunities and collaborate effectively.
• Collaborate with other DevAI teams, Google DeepMind and Coding Tools teams on prototypes employing new research in Natural Language Processing (NLP) for code, and producing these prototypes. For some prototypes you will identify relevant clients (e.g. specific PAs/teams) who might help iterate on the prototypes by either providing feedback, or in some cases actively engaging in the development. Productionisation will include building data pipelines, potentially ML training and evaluation automation.
