to ensure our iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV apps under
our ExpressVPN brand

What You'll Do

• Review and advise developers on what to test and how for new iOS features; refine acceptance criteria and happy/sad paths.
• Conduct exploratory testing for new features and risky areas; design test plans that uncover edge cases and usability issues.
• Execute functional, integration, and end‑to‑end testing across iOS versions and devices (iPhone/iPad), including tvOS where relevant.
• Validate network‑sensitive behaviors (e.g., connectivity changes, captive portals, airplane/roaming, VPN/proxy scenarios if applicable) using tools like the Network Link Conditioner and packet inspection where appropriate.
• Identify, document, and track defects from discovery to resolution with clear repro steps, logs, device info, and expected/actual results.
• Perform impact analysis for feature changes and platform upgrades (e.g., new iOS releases, SDK changes), advising on risk and mitigations.
• Design, maintain, and evolve test plans, checklists, and guardrail suites; keep living documentation current.
• Partner with engineers to improve testability (dependency injection, feature flags, diagnostics, accessibility identifiers, debug switches).
• Stay current on iOS/tvOS changes (permissions, background modes, privacy, entitlements) and share insights with the team.

What You'll Bring

• 4+ years in QA, with 2+ years focused on iOS (consumer apps preferred).
• Hands‑on experience with Xcode and common debugging tools (Instruments, Console, sysdiagnose, crash logs).
• Demonstrated ability to create and execute test plans, scripts, and exploratory charters that surface critical issues.
• Strong analytical skills for root cause discovery, risk assessment, and prioritization; you can separate symptoms from causes.
• Experience influencing user story refinement and acceptance criteria to improve clarity and testability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; you tailor detail to your audience and influence cross‑functional decisions.

Nice to have

• iOS automation experience with XCTest/XCUITest (designing stable, maintainable UI tests and keeping suites green in CI).
• Experience with Xcode Cloud or comparable CI (CircleCI/GitHub Actions) for iOS pipelines.
• Familiarity with network diagnostics (Charles Proxy, Proxyman, Wireshark), mock servers, or simulators of adverse conditions.
• Exposure to accessibility testing, localization, and privacy/security considerations on Apple platforms.
• Experience with tvOS or macOS QA is a plus.

Success metrics

• Quality: Defect escape rate trends downward; critical issues caught pre‑release.
• Coverage: Clear, risk‑based coverage grows quarter over quarter (features, devices, OS versions).
• Velocity & efficiency: Test cycle time is reduced while maintaining or improving depth.
• Stability: Ensure the stability of our iOS application
