Job Overview

The SatCom Pre-Sales Engineer acts as the primary technical interface between the customer and the company during the sales cycle. This role is responsible for understanding customer requirements, designing tailored satellite communication solutions, and supporting the sales team with technical expertise to secure new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Sales Support:
  • Act as the main technical point of contact for customers during the sales process.
  • Analyse and understand customer requirements (RFI/RFP/RFQ) and propose optimal solutions.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, and solution documentation in collaboration with sales teams.
  • Solution Design:
  • Select the most appropriate satellite communications products, platforms, and architectures (L/C/X/Ku/Ka band, VSAT networks, MSS services, etc.).
  • Building and demonstrating proofs of concept to validate the solution's viability and impact for the customer
  • Design end-to-end solutions including ground stations, hubs, terminals, antennas, and network integration (IP, MPLS, SD-WAN).
  • Work closely with engineering and product teams to validate feasibility and cost structures.
  • Customer Engagement:
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and workshops to customers.
  • Build trusted technical relationships with key accounts and partners.
  • Support bid defense meetings and customer technical reviews.
  • Market & Vendor Analysis:
  • Evaluate vendor offerings and ensure optimal fit for the company's portfolio.
  • Monitor competitor solutions, pricing, and market trends to inform proposals and strategy.
  • New Service Development:
  • The capacity to translate technical features into tangible business benefits for the client
  • Contribute to the definition of new services and products based on customer feedback and market demand.
  • Collaborate with product management to bring innovative SatCom solutions to market.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in SatCom pre-sales, solutions engineering, or network architecture.
  • Expertise in LEO/MEO/GEO constellations, MSS services and VSAT technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of terrestrial and IP network technologies (TCP/IP, MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN, routing).
  • Fluency in both German and English (written and spoken).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for customers.

  • Customer-focused with a consultative sales approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with other functions, i.e. marketing, engineering, product management, legal, etc.
  • Skilled in preparing compelling technical proposals and costed solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with a CRM system, such as Salesforce.
