Role Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and engaging Museum Guide to lead small-group and private museum tours in Berlin.

In this on-site, part-time role, you will guide visitors through some of Berlin's most important museums and exhibitions, providing historical context, clear explanations, and thoughtful interpretation. You'll help guests connect objects and exhibitions to Berlin's wider history, culture, and present-day identity.

Museums can include:

Neues Museum,

Altes Museum,

Bode Museum,

Alte Nationalgalerie

Humboldt Forum

Story Bunker

You by no means need to become proficient in all of the Museums. Some of our guides simply choose one to specialize in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead guided museum tours in Berlin (history, art, and memory-focused institutions)
  • Interpret exhibitions in a clear, engaging, and accessible way
  • Adapt explanations to different audiences and knowledge levels
  • Provide exceptional customer service to international visitors
  • Answer questions and encourage discussion
  • Represent Birchy's Berlin Tours professionally within museum spaces
  • Support private and small-group bookings
  • Work collaboratively with other guides and partners

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Berlin's history and culture
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable engaging groups and telling stories
  • Confident speaking to groups in museum environments
  • Experience guiding museum tours or working in museums is highly desirable
  • Passion for Berlin
  • Team-oriented and reliable
  • Prior tourism or guiding experience is a plus
  • Flexible availability and willingness to work on-site in Berlin
