Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll have the chance to shape not only our product but also our engineering culture and ways of working.

What you'll be doing:

• Build products that matter: We create products our brands love and rely on every day to grow and scale.
• Design, develop, and maintain core backend systems: in Ruby on Rails, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability as we continue to grow across Europe.
• Own features end-to-end: from collaborating with product managers on requirements, to architecting solutions, writing code, deploying, and monitoring in produ
• Continuously improve our architecture: help us scale a Rails monolith sustainably by improving modularity, performance, security, and developer experience.
• Ensure quality and reliability: write well-tested, maintainable code, contribute to code reviews, and help raise the engineering bar across the team.
• Collaborate across teams: work closely with Product, Data, and Operations to shape solutions that create real business impact.
• Mentor and support teammates: share knowledge, and guide less experienced engineers in best practices.

• You've done this before, multiple times: you've worked with Ruby on Rails (5+ years of experience in software engineering) and know how to ship production-ready features in a fast-paced environment.
• Builder at heart: you love solving problems and creating scalable systems from scratch. You care about architecture, performance, and developer experience.
• Business impact matters to you: you balance writing elegant code with making pragmatic trade-offs that deliver value quickly.
• You care about quality: you write maintainable, well-documented, and well-tested code (knowing it saves time down the road).
• You thrive in collaboration: you enjoy working with product managers, designers, and other engineers, and you communicate clearly across functions.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience scaling a large Rails monolith or breaking one into modular components.
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience optimizing queries.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, or similar messaging systems.
• Background in e-commerce, logistics, supply chain, or order management systems.
• You are a fullstack engineer or are excited to grow into one.

Our Stack

• Ruby on Rails on the backend. Our backend services are all written in Rails - it allowed us to get going and keep iterating quickly
• React + TypeScript on the Frontend. Our frontend applications are written in React and TypeScript, we mainly use styled-components for styling and are using Tailwind on a new app we bootstrapped
• Modern tooling. Code is hosted on GitHub, error reporting is handled in Sentry, Vercel for hosting and deploying our frontend services and AWS for the backend infrastructure, Linear is used for issue tracking, we design in Figma, analyze with Segment and , have Notion as our internal wiki, and use Slack for internal communication. Our marketing websites are built with Webflow
