The Role:

We are looking for a Legal Counsel with strong background in commercial and IT contracting to join our team in Düsseldorf and support legal operations in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment. In this role, you will work closely with the business teams in Germany on key customer and vendor accounts and collaborate with legal and business teams in Japan and internationally.

You will contribute to contract review, negotiation processes and contract lifecycle management, support legal decision-making and maintain clarity of legal and commercial communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and update a wide variety of commercial and IT agreements, including licensing, service and supply contracts, and other standard legal documents.
• Support negotiations through contract review and redlining.
• Assist in defining and interpreting performance obligations in contracts, including deliverables, milestones, KPIs and SLAs.
• Define and manage vendor obligations and ensure alignment with customer contracts.
• Support contract lifecycle management in collaboration with the Procurement team.
• Develop and improve internal legal policies, templates, and guidelines.
• Provide legal support to internal teams on dispute-related matters; draft claims, responses, and other legal letters.

Requirements:

• Law degree and admission to practice law in the EEA/UK (Germany preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in-house.
• Experience in an international business environment is highly valued, particularly within the telecommunications, software or technology sectors.
• Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity; able to collaborate across regions and disciplines with professionalism and discretion.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-border legal matters, including commercial contracting and regulatory issues.
• Proven skills in legal drafting, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and pragmatic legal problem-solving.
• Fluency in English is required. Additional languages of the European Union, especially German, are an asset.
