This position sits within Pupil AG in St. Gallen, Switzerland - part of the Sdui Group. With around 50 passionate professionals, Pupil supports over 200 schools on their digital journey through its modern, cloud-based platform PUPIL.

Your mission

As Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll help shape the technical foundation that powers the Sdui Group's products. You'll evolve Pupil's DevOps landscape, ensuring our systems remain secure, scalable, and reliable — so our development teams can focus on what matters most: building great software that transforms education.

What you'll do

Lead and evolve automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure standards across assigned brands and teamsEnsure stability, scalability, and security of DevOps environments and delivery pipelinesDefine and implement group-wide DevOps best practices, balancing local autonomy with global alignmentEstablish reliable monitoring, alerting, and incident response processesCollaborate closely with engineering and product teams to streamline delivery workflowsProvide technical leadership and mentoring within DevOps teams, fostering knowledge sharing and growthDrive continuous improvement and innovation in software delivery and operational efficiencyContribute actively to group-wide DevOps initiatives and cross-brand governance

What you'll bring

5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or related fieldsProven leadership experience in technical or cross-functional projectsExpertise in CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOpsStrong knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible)Familiarity with monitoring/logging frameworks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)Cloud expertise in AWS, Azure, or GCPUnderstanding of IT governance, compliance, and security practicesStrategic thinker with a hands-on mindset and solution-oriented approachExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsFluency in both German and English, with the ability to work confidently in an international environmentNice to have: Experience with Post-Merger Integration (PMI) or multi-brand environments

Where you'll be

This role can be remote from Germany or hybrid from our office in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Our Swiss team collaborates on site two to three days per week, while remote colleagues from Germany join in regularly — e.g. one week per quarter in St. Gallen to connect in person and stay close to the team.
