Chief Technology Officer

Your role:

As Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you are responsible for defining, driving, and executing Aesir Interactive's technological and IT strategy.

You lead the entire Technology and IT Department, including Programming, Tech Art, Tools & Pipeline, Infrastructure, and Engine Development.
You ensure that all technical and IT processes, architectures, and workflows align with the company's creative ambitions, financial goals, and long-term business vision.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you are part of Aesir's executive leadership team, shaping Aesir's future direction, technology roadmap, and innovation strategy.
You combine strategic foresight with operational and financial excellence, enabling scalable, efficient, and future-proof production across all of Aesir's projects.

Your leadership ensures that technology and IT serve as the foundation for creative freedom, data security, production efficiency, and sustainable growth.

The kind of stuff you`ll be doing:

Your day-to-day combines executive leadership, strategic decision-making, and technological and financial management:

• Define and execute Aesir's global technology and IT strategy, ensuring alignment with creative, operational, and business objectives.

• Lead and manage the Technology & IT Department, including all Directors, Leads, Principals, and Experts.

• Oversee infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and IT operations, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.

• Drive TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), budgeting, and investment planning across all technology and IT domains.

• Develop and manage long-term financial and resource strategies for technical operations and infrastructure growth.

• Oversee all technical projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and financial frameworks.

• Collaborate closely with the CEO and other C-level executives to align technological innovation with corporate strategy.

• Promote technological innovation and digital transformation through the adoption of emerging tools, AI, and automation.

• Implement KPI- and ROI-based systems to monitor efficiency, cost performance, and project health.

• Ensure a strong focus on leadership development, IT compliance, and continuous learning within the Technology Department.

• Represent Aesir's technical excellence and IT reliability in external partnerships and industry collaborations.

Who are we looking for:

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary executive leader with deep expertise in technology, IT, and financial management in the games or software industry.

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in technology or game development, including several years in executive or senior leadership roles.

• Proven experience in strategic and financial planning, including budget ownership, TCO optimization, and investment management.

• Strong background in Unreal Engine, software architecture, and large-scale infrastructure management.

• Deep understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity, networking, and enterprise architecture.

• Demonstrated ability to align technical, IT, and financial strategies with company goals.

• Experience implementing cross-project pipelines, cloud infrastructures, and data security standards.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills at executive level.

• Fluent in English and German (both written and spoken).

• A strategic thinker with a strong business mindset, capable of translating technological complexity into actionable financial and organizational strategies.

• Manage and control budgeting, TCO, and investment planning for all technical and IT areas.

• Define and execute the company-wide technology roadmap in alignment with corporate strategy.

• Oversee infrastructure reliability, cybersecurity, and system scalability.

• Ensure financial accountability and long-term sustainability of technical operations.

• Represent Aesir's technology and IT expertise in management boards, partnerships, and audits.

• Foster cross-departmental collaboration between Technology, IT, and Production to ensure smooth integration.

• Drive digital transformation and ensure continuous innovation across all technical fields.

• Implement and monitor KPIs and quality frameworks for technical and IT performance.

• Promote leadership development and training initiatives across all technical divisions.
