Overview
The PC Deployment Technician is responsible for preparing, configuring, deploying, and supporting workstation hardware and software across the organization. This role ensures smooth rollout of new devices, system upgrades, and migrations while maintaining high service quality and end-user satisfaction.
- Key Responsibilities1. Device Preparation & Imaging
Prepare and configure desktops, laptops, and peripherals for deployment. - Install and update operating systems (Windows 10/11 or required OS).
- Apply company-approved "gold image" and standard software packages.
- Configure BIOS/UEFI, encryption, drivers, and required security tools.
- 2. Deployment & Migration
Deploy new devices to users according to company standards. - Migrate user data, profiles, applications, and settings to new systems.
- Replace, upgrade, or refresh hardware as part of lifecycle management.
- Perform device rollouts in coordination with IT and project teams.
- 3. Onsite & Desk-Side Support
Deliver, set up, and test devices at user locations. - Provide post-deployment technical support and troubleshooting.
- Resolve hardware and software issues within defined SLAs.
- Assist with printer setup, docking stations, monitors, and peripherals.
- 4. Documentation & Inventory
Maintain detailed records of asset assignments and updates in the IT asset management system. - Document installation steps, procedures, and troubleshooting notes.
- Track hardware inventory, replacements, and returns.
- 5. Collaboration
Work closely with Service Desk, Network, and Infrastructure teams. - Coordinate deployment schedules with departmental managers.
- Communicate clearly with end users regarding deployment timelines and instructions.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Windows 10/11 installation and configuration. - Knowledge of PC hardware components, imaging tools (SCCM, Intune, MDT, etc.).
- Familiarity with Active Directory (user accounts, domain join).
- Experience with data migration tools (USMT or equivalent).
- Basic understanding of networking (IP, DNS, Wi-Fi).
- Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a project team.
- Preferred Skills
Experience in large-scale deployment or refresh projects. - Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Request, Asset Management).
- Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) or SCCM.
- Experience working in corporate or enterprise environments.
