Tools for Humanity is looking for a hands-on Working Student to assist in developing, testing, and validating our flagship hardware devices, including the Orb. This role will work closely Device team to support the creation and production of cutting-edge technologies at scale.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the firmware development and validation of embedded systems across various platforms.
  • Support the programming of microcontrollers using Rust, C, or Python, integrating real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as Zephyr or Linux-based systems (Yocto, Ubuntu).
  • Assist in driver development for new and existing hardware features.
  • Participate in research and development activities to explore, validate, and implement new features and hardware improvements.
  • Support hardware qualification, verification, and validation through systematic testing and analysis.
  • Perform measurements and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other electrical test equipment under supervision.
  • Contribute to method and process development for feature validation and prototyping activities.

About You:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Foundational experience in embedded firmware development with RTOS environments (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or Linux).
  • Familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • A basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems is advantageous.
  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrates a proactive mindset, strong technical curiosity, and a commitment to high-quality work.
