ASAM Criteria Clinical Trainer

The ideal candidate will have experience in The ASAM Criteria, Third or Fourth Editions.

The Clinical Trainer Consultant is responsible for delivering high-quality training related to Hazelden Publishing's evidence-based curricula, practices and philosophies. This position has primary responsibility for facilitating learning experiences for administrative leaders, clinical leaders, and frontline staff related to substance use and co-occurring disorders and implementation efforts. This position delivers instructor-led training to assist customers in implementing Hazelden Publishing services and programs in an evidence-based manner.

• Provide training services for Hazelden Publishing's strategic growth initiatives
• Support and provide consultation to services based on best practice standards
• Work with organization staff to support program growth initiatives

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, health, human services, counseling or related field

• 2 years' experience providing services to communities, individuals, or families affected by addiction or co-occurring mental health

  disorders

• 2 years' experience as a training facilitator to small and large audiences with extensive knowledge of the following principles:
  • Audience advocacy
  • Respect for adult learner needs, facilitation of interactive learning experiences
  • Effective use of group facilitation techniquies: icebreaker activities, group energizer strategies, humor and stories that increase learner engagement
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective use of vocal skills in conducting training
  • Use of vocal tone and volume as a communication tool
  • Speaks clearly and audibly; Intentional use of non-verbal communication to establish rapport with the audience and facilitating learning
  • Effecitve use of presentation materials to support learning goals
  • Effective use of audiovisual technology as a supporting tool for learning
• Willingness to incorporate new technologies into training experiences
• Ability to simultaneously work independently as collaboratively as determined by project needs

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's or Doctorate degree in behavioral health related field.
• Experience as part of a multidisciplinary team in clinical settings and knowledge of the dynamics of trauma, peer supports, and substance use disorder and its effect on individuals, families and communities.
• Clinical certification, credential or license in a clinical or teaching/training discipline related to the behavioral health field (e.g., substance use disorders, medication-assisted treatment, innovative clinical models related to trauma-responsive care, issues specific to corrections and community supervision settings) or dually- licensed as a substance use and mental health provider (LPCC, LICSW or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability to develop sustainable, culturally-appropriate programming for traditionally-underserved populations.
• Knowledge of the philosophy, products and services offered by Hazelden and experience implementing Hazelden Publishing's evidence-based curricula
• Knowledge and experience serving children and families, trauma-responsive services, justice-involved individuals, individuals diagnosed with Opioid Use Disorder, 12-Step and other ecovery fellowships and principles, Medicare, Medicaid and CMS billing, Community Mental
• Health Centers and Federally Qualified Health Centers.
• Development of residential, outpatient, and community-based programming with a demonstrated track record of success.
• History of advocacy work related to treatment of Substance Use Disorders and issues related to social determinants of health.
• Experience in successful application for federal, state, and private funding for programming across settings.
• Experience coordinating and guiding systems change.
