This position is a cornerstone technical leadership role focused on
chip-level functional safety. You'll develop and implement hardware safety strategies that meet ISO 26262, SOTIF, and ISO/SAE 21434 standards, ensuring that our SoCs, CPUs, and NPUs deliver uncompromising reliability for safety-critical applications.

You'll also act as the technical lead in interactions with automotive partners, customers, and European research programs, representing our safety vision and aligning external requirements with internal architectures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of ISO 26262-compliant safety architectures for AI-enabled SoCs (ASIL B–D), embedding safety concepts directly into the silicon.
  • Collaborate with RTL and SoC engineering teams to integrate fault-tolerant mechanisms such as ECC, lockstep, BIST, watchdogs, and diagnostic circuitry.
  • Conduct and lead analyses such as HARA, FMEDA, FTA, and DFA to ensure diagnostic coverage and robust compliance.
  • Define and validate safety concepts, allocate safety goals, and develop system-level safety paths.
  • Lead technical engagements with partners, customers, and industry consortia, ensuring shared understanding of safety objectives and methods.
  • Support safety audits, manage interactions with assessors, and contribute to the certification process under ISO 26262 and SOTIF.
  • Embed ISO/SAE 21434 and ISO/PAS 21448 considerations into the design flow for AI/ML-based systems.
  • Produce and review artefacts such as safety plans, safety manuals, traceability reports, and safety cases.
  • Enhance internal development workflows, tooling, and methodologies related to functional safety.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of direct experience in semiconductor functional safety for ISO 26262-compliant chip development (ASIL B–D).
  • Strong technical background in hardware-level safety architecture, RTL diagnostics, and fault-tolerant design.
  • Hands-on experience performing safety analyses (FMEDA, HARA, FTA, DFA).
  • Proven ability to work with external assessors and certification bodies.
  • Familiarity with SoC architecture, safety IP, and verification methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for cross-organisational and external collaboration.
