ABOUT THE JOB:

The European Accounting Center of Excellence (CoE) is a dynamic and collaborative organization supporting Woodward businesses across Europe and the Middle East. Comprising a team of over 50 skilled accounting professionals, the CoE delivers expertise in transactional, operational, general, and local accounting services. Operating within a distributed structure, the team is primarily based in Poland, with additional hubs located in Germany, Bulgaria, and the United Kingdom.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Lead and manage a General Accounting team of six or more finance professionals across multiple locations, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and coaching
  • Oversee the accurate and timely execution of journal entries, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, compliance with SOX controls, and other financial reporting requirements to ensure precision and regulatory adherence
  • Supervise the completion of account reconciliations to maintain financial integrity and compliance with internal control guidelines
  • Ensure proper documentation of financial processes while driving the development and implementation of standardized operational procedures to optimize workflows
  • Monitor key operational metrics, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in general accounting operations
  • Provide leadership and support for the implementation of SAP HANA and other system solutions, such as Tagetik, to modernize and improve financial systems and processes
  • Collaborate as a financial advisor to non-finance leaders, delivering actionable insights and effectively influencing decision-making across diverse business units
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Experience: 10 years in Accounting, including minimum 5 years in General Ledger/General Accounting and minimum 2 years in managerial role
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong in US GAAP, SOX compliance, SAP; Tagetik or similar tools is a plus
  • Languages: Fluent in English, Polish and/or German - preferred
  • Education: Master in Accounting/Finance; ACCA, or equivalent certification - preferred
  • Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and ability to manage cross-border teams
  • Travel: Willingness to travel between Poland (majority of the team presence) and Germany (largest business and team members presence)
