What are SolidFlow batteries?    

SolidFlow batteries store energy in organic molecules. The absence of explosive materials makes them safe, the use of socially and ecologically conflict-free raw materials makes them sustainable and the almost unlimited availability of materials makes them scalable and cheap to procure. This makes our patented SolidFlow technology a game changer in the development of a global climate-neutral energy system.   

From start-up to scale-up: we're tackling it together    

CMBlu Energy is developing from a start-up focussing on research into a manufacturing scale-up that is on its way to series production. Around 240 employees are working towards this goal at CMBlu Energy. Our head office is in Alzenau near Frankfurt, with a branch office in Obernburg. There are also subsidiaries in Athens, Greece and Petaluma, USA.    

 

You lead the iterative development of our prototypes — from concept to MVP and MMP — to validate our technology, convince customers, and enable a market-ready product. You apply clear goals, agile principles, and rapid, learning-driven cycles.
You drive progress through rapid experimentation, unconventional approaches, and an agile champion mindset. The role is strategically critical, highly visible to senior management, and unites the company's competencies into a functioning battery.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize the prototype backlog across hardware, software, and system interfaces, ensuring clarity of deliverables and acceptance criteria

  • Collaborate closely with technicians, engineers, component POs, software teams, and the system architect to align prototype outcomes

  • Apply agile principles to hardware development to enable short learning cycles, continuous integration, and transparent progress

  • Coordinate shop-floor prototype builds to drive hands-on learning, fast feedback loops, and meaningful technical-to-business insights

  • Remove barriers, challenge assumptions, and push for clarity of purpose to strengthen a build-to-learn culture and accelerate delivery

  • Represent prototype priorities and progress across the organization, ensuring each iteration has a clear purpose and explicit learning objectives

Your Profile

  • Experience as a Product Owner or in a comparable role within hardware or physical product development; ideally in energy systems, batteries, or electromechanics

  • Strong understanding of agile principles applied to R&D and prototyping, with a proven track record in iterative product maturation (Prototype → MVP → MMP)

  • Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term product goals and challenge stagnation through analytical, purpose-driven decisions

  • Effective communicator across all hierarchy levels — from shop-floor teams to senior management — with the confidence to challenge assumptions

  • Background in electrical or mechanical engineering (or similar), combined with analytical clarity and bold, action-oriented problem-solving

  • Fluent in both German and English, ensuring clear communication and alignment in a multilingual environment
