About our client
Our client is a provider of technical solutions for commercial and industrial applications with an international footprint. Backed by an established German private equity investor, the company is entering a phase of further development and targeted realignment. Strengthening and professionalising the finance function - particularly accounting and controlling - will be key to creating transparency, ensuring operational alignment, and supporting the next steps in the company's evolution. This role offers the opportunity to work closely alongside the CEO and actively shape the organisation, located in the Aachen area.

What the job involves

  • Overall responsibility for the financial accounting (HGB and likely IFRS) and controlling areas of the group and its subsidiaries
  • Furthermore, reporting, tax and legal, treasury and finance, M&A and potentially IT and HR duties in a second step
  • Preparation of annual financial statements and consolidated financial statements
  • Management and involvement in the preparation of individual and consolidated financial statements and tax returns
  • Optimization of process environment
  • Management, organisation and further development of monthly reporting including the preparation of reports (for management, shareholders, banks) as well as management and operational support of the budgeting and planning process
  • Cash flow planning and working capital management as well as introduction and further development of an operational KPI system
  • Contact person for the company's business partners and maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders as well as auditors and bankers
  • Ensuring timely reporting to all stakeholders
  • Responsibility for the creation and implementation of an internal controlling environment that ensures compliance with all rules and regulations as well as company guidelines
  • Further development of the risk management process within the company
  • Responsibility for coordinating ESG reporting and other non-financial information requirements

Who we are looking for

  • University degree in finance, business administration, or relevant field with excellent grades
  • First proven experience as a Finance Director or CFO, ideally in a small and/ or medium sized company
  • Experience in companies with a project-based business model is preferred
  • Experience ideally in Big4 audit firm in either tax or audit as prerequisite – completion of German Chartered Tax Accountant and / or German Public Accountant training highly appreciated
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards (HGB, IFRS), financial statements, controlling, cash flow planning, budget process, using financial and business ratios to manage the companies and support management in decision-making
  • Experienced in the introduction, application, maintenance and further development of ERP and consolidation tools and best practice methods
  • Strong leadership skills - Ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a collaborative and performance driven work environment
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, ensuring effective relationships with all key parties
  • Experience in international set-ups is beneficial
  • Pragmatic and hands-on self-starter who has a strategic mindset
  • High integrity and commitment to a dynamic PE-backed company
  • On site presence 4 to 5 days a week is inevitable
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English
