Internship Position in Veterinary Pathology (m/f/d)

as part of our Residency Program (ECVP)

In accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, the position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis at the Institute of Veterinarian Pathology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with the opportunity for own academic qualification. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).

As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will generally be employed for an initial period of one year.

Pathology is a key bridge between clinical disciplines and basic research. A thorough training in this field offers various career opportunities, ranging from a career in science/academia to government agencies, private diagnostic laboratories and the pharmaceutical industry.

Your tasks at a glance

Opportunity for own academic and didactic qualification, activities in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG

Taking on teaching duties according to the teaching obligation ordinance of the state of Hessen

Participation in the institute's diagnostic activities

The training position offers the opportunity to complete a one-year program in the morphological pathology of livestock, companion animals, wildlife, zoo animals, and laboratory animals, as well as molecular pathology. This program provides the essential foundation for a subsequent residency. Pending the fulfilment of the necessary requirements, the possibility exists for the continuation of a residency program subsequent to this year, with the objective of preparing for the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) examination. Concurrently, there is the opportunity to engage in a research project as part of a doctoral degree program.

Your qualification and competences

We are looking for a highly motivated student with a strong interest in pathology and molecular research. Specifically, the following qualifications are required:

Graduation from a veterinary school (Master of Veterinary Medicine, DVM or equivalent)

Willingness to work collaboratively to promote our team approach to research, teaching and diagnostics

Fluency in English and a minimum knowledge of German (B2) to work in the Diagnostic Unit.
