We are looking for a Principal Scientist to join the newly established Ni v P (Novel in vitro Phenomics ) team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about developing innovative in vitro models and using them for drug development and discovery projects that drive meaningful impact for patients.

Ni v P is part of the Oncology Translational Research (OTR) team at GSK and is embedded in a collaborative network across OTR and beyond, supporting both preclinical and clinical development programs within the GSK Oncology Therapeutic Area.

The successful candidate will join a team currently being built across Berlin and Stevenage , with a core focus on establishing cutting-edge organoid models and leverag ing them across a range of translational applications, from chemosensitivity profiling to molecular engineering approaches for biomarker discovery and target validation .

Key responsibilities

• P lan and conduct chemosensitivity ass ays on patient-derived organoids in small- and large-scale screens including use of liquid handl ing systems
• Develop protocols of molecular engineering approaches in patient-derived organoids and perform subsequent experiments with the team.
• Establish and execute cell culture protocols for the growth and expansion of patient-derived organoids from various tumor entities .
• Organize and contribute to collaborative projects with internal and external research partners
• Advice and i mplement processes adhering to q uality control standards .
• Coordinate workflows as part of a cross-functional project team.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental results; summarize findings in clear reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

• Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Oncology, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with several years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience.
• Strong background in cell biology , including molecular engineering , disease modeling and complex cell culture , ideally with multidisciplinary training.
• Proven expertise in cell culture techniques, particularly with primary samples (human biopsies, resections) and patient-derived organoids
• Skilled in cellular and molecular biology methods relevant to translational research.
• Independence in forming scientific hypothes e s; executing, analyzing, validating results and optimizing procedure when needed .
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and engage with both peers and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion .

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Experience with utilization of liquid handl ing systems and automatization of workflows .
• Hands-on experience in molecular manipulation (e.g., nucleofection, CRISPR ) on organoids is an advantage.
• Experience in cellular profiling methods (e.g., flow cytometry analysis ) and FACS sorting .
• E xperience with variations of culture systems (2D, 3 D and /or co-culture).
• Proven track record of scientific publications or achievements.
• Experience collaborating with biopharmaceutical industry partners.
