Senior Manager IT Controlling

Location: Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Senior Manager IT Controlling
to join their finance team in Frankfurt. In this role, you will be responsible for the financial steering and transparency of IT costs and investments across the organisation. This position focuses on the operational and strategic aspects of IT controlling, supporting data-driven decisions and ensuring financial discipline in all IT-related expenditures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts for IT departments and projects, including cost centre planning and investment budgeting.
  • Develop and maintain transparent cost structures for IT services (e.g. infrastructure, software, support), including chargeback models to business units.
  • Support the financial planning and monitoring of IT projects, ensuring budget adherence and accurate cost tracking for CAPEX and OPEX items.
  • Conduct monthly variance analyses between actuals, forecasts, and budgets; prepare regular reports and commentary for senior stakeholders.
  • Evaluate business cases for IT investments and projects, including ROI, TCO, and NPV analysis to support decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for cost improvements within IT operations, systems, and contracts; support implementation of efficiency measures.
  • Maintain data accuracy within controlling systems (e.g., SAP CO, BI tools); help improve controlling processes and financial reporting automation.
  • Ensure financial activities related to IT are in line with internal controls, audit requirements, and corporate policies.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in financial controlling, with at least 3 years focused on IT controlling or technology cost management.
  • Solid understanding of IT cost structures, investment planning, and project financials.
  • Proficiency in SAP CO/FI and/or other ERP and reporting systems (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Hyperion).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently, with a structured and hands-on approach.
  • Fluency in English required; German is a plus.
