Senior Systems Engineer Earth Observation Missions (m/f/d)

As an experienced and dedicated Senior System Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the successful execution of exciting and complex proposals and projects in the domain of Earth Observation in Phases 0 and A/B1. The position is to be filled immediately.

• Technical lead of Phase 0 and A/B1 studies and proposals
• Lead and technical co-ordination of special departments and single subcontractors
• Execution of trade-offs, analysis and definition of mission and system architecture
• Lead the system design of the entire space system, subsystems and the definition of requirements specification from satellite level down to subsystem level
• Definition of interface requirements towards payload, launcher and ground segment
• Support activities for Model Based Systems Engineering for the mission
• Support the analysis of the overall satellite development approach in accordance with the objective of achieving the requested TRL by end of the respective Phase 0 and A/B1
• Support the definition of the overall project breakdown structure for the satellite development in the form a Work Breakdown Structure for the project implementation phases
• Support the establishment of a project implementation schedule for the overall satellite in the form of a project bar chart in line with the overall programme planning
• Support the analysis and assessment of potential cost drivers of the satellite
• Support the analysis and assessment of the technical and programmatic risks related to cost, schedule and technical feasibility of the satellite
• Support the establishment of risk mitigation measures for the satellite

Your Qualifications

• Several years of professional experience in satellite engineering and mission architecture, preferably in Phase 0 to B1
• Knowledge of Earth observation space missions, especially in the ESA context
• In-depth knowledge of the Copernicus Sentinel Next Generation and Earth Explorer missions is an asset
• Strong competencies in space mission design, satellite systems engineering and spacecraft subsystem design
• Knowledge of requirements engineering for subsystems of space systems and preparation of specifications
• Knowledge of design and development planning (DDV/AIV) including determination of the qualification status (TRL)
• Interest in Model Based Systems Engineering
• High level of flexibility, willingness to work in international teams and ability to keep tight schedules
• High motivation, pro-active working approach and strong sense of responsibility
• Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills
• Fluency in both spoken and written (business) EnglishPlease fill in a description or attach a document
