Managing Director – Operations
for a flagship site in
Lower Saxony, Germany.

This is a pivotal executive leadership role, responsible for site-wide operations, strategic execution, commercial delivery, and organisational performance at a facility central to the company's global biopharmaceutical network. As
Managing Director - Operations,
you will lead the site through continued growth, operational excellence, and regulatory confidence, with full accountability for revenue, EBITDA, client delivery, and quality outcomes.

The Role

Reporting to the
Vice President of Operations
, you will oversee the day-to-day performance of the facility, leading cross-functional teams across manufacturing, quality, supply chain and engineering.

You will shape strategy, deliver operational excellence and ensure the site meets the highest standards of GMP compliance, safety, and performance.

This role oversees:

  • Site revenue and EBITDA delivery
  • On-time client delivery and service quality
  • Regulatory compliance and inspection readiness
  • Capacity planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement
  • Leadership, culture, and organisational development

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all operational activities for the site, ensuring
    high-quality GMP manufacturing
    of complex biopharmaceutical products.
  • As the
    Managing Director, Operations
    you will drive site P&L performance, including
    revenue, EBITDA, budget adherence, and cost efficiency
    .
  • Execute business strategy, local initiatives, and process improvements to support site expansion and performance goals.
  • Lead and develop the on-site leadership team, fostering a culture of trust, accountability, empowerment, and open communication.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration between the site and wider Group operations.
  • Maintain strict compliance with
    EU and US GMP
    , GLP, and industry-specific regulatory expectations.
  • Oversee KPIs and report site performance to divisional and Group leadership.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a senior operations leader with deep experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology GMP environments.

Required Experience:

  • 12+ years
    in pharmaceutical or biotechnology GMP manufacturing industry knowledge.
  • 15 years' experience
    manufacturing and/or operations work experience.
  • Prior experience with
    sterile, biopharmaceutical, or ATMP products
    (highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of major regulatory frameworks (EU GMP, FDA, MHRA).
  • Strong evidence of leading large cross-functional teams and setting site-level strategic direction.
  • Exposure to
    LEAN, Six Sigma
    and continuous improvement principles.
  • Fluent in
    German and English
    (essential).
