About the Job

Firemetrics is looking for a
Backend Developer
with at least 3 years of relevant experience. You will work with
Rust
to build high-performance backend systems for data-intensive healthcare applications. In this role, you'll design scalable backend services, ensure smooth integrations, and help shape the technical backbone of our platform that makes complex healthcare data usable in real time.

Technical Skills

Backend Development

  • Rust Expert
    with advanced proficiency in building high-performance, reliable backend systems.
  • Strong understanding of Rust's memory safety, concurrency model, and ecosystem.
  • SQL Expert
    with deep knowledge of query optimization, indexing strategies, and complex query writing.
  • Experience with
    PostgreSQL
    for advanced relational database management and optimization.
  • Proficiency in developing PostgreSQL native extensions using Rust (e.g., leveraging pgx).
  • Expertise in microservices architecture, high-performance, low-latency systems, and real-time/batch data processing.
  • Proficiency in data streaming tools such as
    Kafka
    .

Infrastructure and Operations

  • Proficiency in
    Docker
    for containerization and deployment.
  • Solid hands-on experience with
    Kubernetes
    for orchestrating and scaling services.
  • Familiarity with
    Linux
    for system-level operations and debugging backend processes.
  • Experience with
    Grafana, Prometheus
    or similar tools for monitoring and observability.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical approach to complex system challenges.
  • Collaborative mindset, working closely with DevOps, data, and frontend colleagues.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on code quality, maintainability, and testing.
  • Fluent in German is a requirement.
  • Strong communication skills in English.

Additional Skills

  • Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Proficiency in low-level systems programming for backend optimization.
