Düsseldorf (initial 4-month training period) → then full-time in Porto, Portugal

About the Role

We are looking for experienced
Fund Accounting Subject Matter Experts (SME)
to join our newly established
Service Center in Porto
and support
Company A's Fund Accounting Team in Germany
.

In this role, you will act as a key expert for complex fund accounting topics and ensure the accurate and timely processing of securities transactions across various asset classes — including equities, fixed income, exchange-traded and OTC derivatives. You will bridge daily operations and management, help drive process improvements, and play a crucial role in
training and developing new team members
.

Your Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of expertise for complex fund accounting topics
  • Oversee trade processing across all asset classes and act as subject matter expert for derivatives, clearing products, and/or securities
  • Review and reconcile
    cash balances, positions, and transactions
    across custodians, fund managers, brokers, and counterparties
  • Monitor cash movements and handle queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Investigate and resolve
    reconciliation breaks
    (cash, securities, derivatives)
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Support
    NAV calculation
    and maintain high-quality accounting records
  • Transfer knowledge and provide
    mentorship
    to junior and senior colleagues
  • Drive
    process improvement, standardization, and automation
    initiatives
  • Provide escalation support and guidance to Senior Fund Accountants and the Head of Fund Accounting
  • Participate in or lead
    projects
    related to new product launches, system migrations, or regulatory changes

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in
    Finance, Accounting, Economics
    , or a related field
  • Minimum
    2 years of experience
    in fund accounting, transaction processing, or reconciliation
  • Strong understanding of
    financial instruments
    (equities, bonds, derivatives, etc.)
  • Proficiency in
    MS Office (especially Excel)
    ; knowledge of
    SimCorp Dimension
    or similar systems is an advantage
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with strong ownership and teamwork mentality
  • Fluent
    English
    (German is a plus)
  • Willingness to
    relocate and complete onboarding in Düsseldorf
    (all travel and accommodation costs covered)
