As a Working Student at Picus Capital, you will directly contribute to how we source, evaluate, and build the next generation of technology companies. Your work spans three key areas: Screening Engine, Internal Workflow Automation, and MVP Creation for Picus.

Enhancing Our Data-Driven Sourcing Infrastructure:

You will help maintain and expand our internal Screening Engine, which identifies promising founders and companies across global startup ecosystems.

• Extend and scale data sources: Build and maintain scrapers or API connectors for national company registries (e.g., INPI, Handelsregister, Companies House) and merge them with enrichment sources like Crunchbase or LinkedIn to expand our founder and company coverage.
• Develop new indicators: Define and implement novel sourcing metrics such as a "Founder Momentum Score" or "Technical Depth Index" that quantify founder quality, early traction or technological edges through available data.
• Integrate the AI Evaluator: Collaborate on integrating an LLM-based evaluator that classifies and scores companies by relevance, innovation level, and true AI focus based on descriptions, registry entries, and web data.

Optimizing Internal Workflow Automation: You will identify and implement automation opportunities that make our internal processes faster, more reliable, and data-driven across teams.

• Automate LP and investor workflows: Build lightweight scripts or data pipelines that automatically generate and update LP lists by merging CRM exports, investor databases, and enrichment APIs (e.g. Crunchbase).
• Connect and synchronize internal tools: Design automations between Notion, GSuite, Affinity, and Slack to keep deal updates, founder interactions, and investment notes consistent without manual work.
• Optimize and automate DD workflows: Design, test, and refine internal tools that make our due diligence processes more efficient, from competitor mapping to funding activity summaries and insight synthesis (e.g. for market, expert and comp DD).

Driving MVP Creation at Picus: You will collaborate with founders and internal teams to translate ideas into tangible prototypes.

• Co-develop founder MVPs: Support founders in building and refining their first product versions, helping define core functionality, user flows, and lightweight technical architectures.
• Prototype new venture concepts: Collaborate with the investment team to translate emerging themes or hypotheses into tangible product prototypes that validate market potential and user value.
• Test and evaluate early products: Conduct structured reviews and testing sessions with founders to assess product usability and technical feasibility, feeding insights back into investment decision-making.

Background:

• You are currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems (Wirtschaftsinformatik), or a related field (top10%).
• You have hands-on experience in software development, scripting, or automation, and you're eager to learn and implement new technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in applying them to venture capital workflows.
• Familiarity with data-driven tools and platforms is a plus.
• Very good proficiency in English.
