We're looking for an Finance Operations Specialist (d/f/m), Expense Management & Month-End Close Support  - Maternity Cover (fixed-term contract 1,5 years) to join our Financial Accounting & Controlling Team.

You will report to the local Teamlead Finance Operations, This is a hybrid role (2-3 office days/ week), and our office is based in Berlin Charlottenburg.

What you'll do:

• Maintain accurate and timely recording of operating expenses in the accounting system (monthly close support).

• Prepare monthly/month-end and quarterly expense reporting and variance analysis vs. budget and prior periods.

• Reconcile expense accounts and investigate unusual or high-impact variances.

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes with detailed expense input and scenario analysis.

• Implement and maintain internal controls and policy compliance for expense transactions and approvals.

• Conduct spend analysis and identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvement, and vendor consolidation.

• Project Management Responsibilities; Own end-to-end delivery of expense-related projects (e.g., expense management automation, vendor rationalisation, travel & expense policy overhaul); Create project plans including scope, milestones, risk logs, resource allocation and communication plans.

Your skill profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field and/or related professional experience.

• 3+ years relevant experience in corporate finance, with exposure to financial planning & analysis (FP&A), accounting, or expense management - preferably within a tech company or online marketplace.

• Experienced in expense management, expense analysis and consolidation, supporting month end closing (plus tool maintenance).

• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data consolidation) and experience with SQL or BI tools is a plus (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).

• Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite, SAP, Xero) and expense management platforms (e.g., Concur, Expensify, Rydoo).

• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex datasets, produce actionable insights and present recommendations to stakeholders.

• Solid grasp of budgeting, forecasting, month-end close and internal control frameworks.

• Project management skills: experience creating project plans, managing stakeholders, and delivering on-time.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; German proficiency desirable.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work across multiple priorities.
