Our client is a well-established investment company and independent power producer (IPP), dedicated to renewable energy infrastructure investments. With a focus on developing and constructing complex projects, they are actively shaping the future of the renewable energy sector in Europe and beyond.

As Country Manager (m/w/d), you will take full responsibility for driving the development, execution, and management of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) portfolio of projects in Germany.

This leadership role combines strategic business development with operational excellence in project management and execution. You will act as the face of the company in the German market, ensuring profitable growth and successful delivery of renewable energy storage solutions, while managing a dedicated local team and collaborating closely with the international leadership.

What You'll Be Doing 

In this pivotal role, you will shape and expand the company's presence in Germany's dynamic energy market. By combining your deep understanding of project development and execution with a strong business development mindset, you will deliver projects that directly contribute to the success of the energy transition:

• Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the business in Germany, including full P&L responsibility
• Lead and manage the end-to-end project development and execution of BESS projects from greenfield origination, land acquisition, and grid connection to construction and commissioning
• Oversee multi-project management, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with quality and safety standards
• Identify and secure new business opportunities to build a strong project pipeline and support long-term growth in the German renewables market
• Develop and implement strategies for market entry, partnerships, and local supply chain development
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing local team across project development, engineering, and execution disciplines
• Foster close collaboration with group headquarters and international teams to align local operations with global business goals
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements
• Representing the company with authorities, partners, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies 

What You Bring

We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who combines technical and commercial expertise with strategic thinking and proven management experience in the renewable energy sector:

• University degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the renewables or energy infrastructure industry.
• Proven track record in developing and executing large-scale renewable energy projects, ideally in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or comparable technologies (Solar or Onshore Wind)
• Solid background in project development and multi-project management, including budget responsibility, time and quality control, and stakeholder coordination
• In-depth understanding of the German energy market, permitting processes, grid connection, and local regulatory framework
• Strong commercial acumen and business development mindset with experience in building partnerships and securing new projects
• Demonstrated experience in leading and growing high-performing, cross-functional teams
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive, hands-on leadership style with a high level of personal integrity and accountability
• Fluent in German and English; additional languages are an advantage
