We at Urban Ground are building the definitive Agentic AI Operating System for Europe's rental housing market. After operating €450M+ of residential assets across Berlin, Frankfurt, and Hamburg, we're now turning the workflows we mastered internally into production-grade AI agents. Voice, pricing, screening, operations, compliance.

We're hiring a Senior AI / Agent Architect to take our AI platform from 0→1. You will define the architecture, build the first version hands-on, and set the standards that the rest of the team will follow.

This role is fully in-person in our Berlin office (no remote). We're laying the groundwork for a world-class agentic system, and tight, high-bandwidth collaboration is crucial to ship quickly and build real defensibility. You will work directly with the founder and a strong, dedicated engineering team.

What You Will Build & Own

This role is intentionally broad at the start. You will be architect, hands-on builder, and standards-setter:


Architecture

  • Design the core agentic architecture: orchestration, tool-use, memory, grounding, and safety
  • Architect a multi-tenant platform where each customer gets its own isolated configuration, data space, and model stack
  • Design the system so we can deploy and manage fine-tuned models per customer to maximise quality and domain fit

Hands-On Development

  • Implement core services in Python/JS and FastAPI (or similar async stack)
  • Build and operate RAG pipelines (pgvector / HNSW), retrieval, and memory layers
  • Fine-tune and adapt models for specific customers and use-cases (languages, legal nuances, workflows)
  • Integrate agents with voice systems, property portals, CRMs, and internal tools

Best Practices & Platform Foundation

  • Establish engineering best practices: code quality, testing, observability, incident handling
  • Define standards for dataset hygiene, evaluation, versioning, and rollout of per-customer fine-tuned models
  • Lay the foundation for a scalable, secure, tenant-aware platform that future engineers can extend safely

RAG, Grounding & Safety

  • Own the RAG architecture for tenancy, rental law, and operational workflows
  • Build grounding, schema enforcement, guardrails, and validation layers to minimise hallucinations
  • Implement monitoring and feedback loops to evaluate and continuously improve agent behaviour

What You Bring

  • Proven experience building production agentic systems (not just single-call LLM integrations)
  • Experience with multi-tenant architectures and data isolation
  • Experience deploying and managing fine-tuned models per customer or per domain
  • Strong instincts for stability, latency, safety, and observability in production systems
  • Startup mindset: high ownership, bias to action, comfort with ambiguity, and desire to ship quickly
  • Ability to turn messy real-world operations into clear, deterministic agent workflows
  • Clear communication and architectural leadership in a small, high-velocity team

Strong expertise in:

  • Python/JS
  • FastAPI / async backends
  • Vector stores (pgvector or similar)
  • Tool-calling / function-calling and structured reasoning
  • RAG architectures and embeddings hygiene
