Senior Data Engineer (with Architecture Experience)

Our client is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to strengthen their Azure-based data platform.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys designing and building scalable data pipelines, but also wants to play a key role in shaping modern data architecture across the business.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes within Azure (Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, ADLS).
  • Contribute to the overall data architecture and ensure data solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs.
  • Partner with Data Architects, Analysts, and Product teams to translate requirements into efficient technical solutions.
  • Optimize performance across data ingestion, transformation, and storage layers.
  • Develop PoCs, prototypes, and production-grade pipelines using modern tools and frameworks.
  • Implement best practices for CI/CD, data quality, and observability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help shape technical standards.
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake, NoSQL).

Your Profile

  • Strong background in data engineering on Azure (or GCP).
  • Deep understanding of data architecture principles, data modelling, and distributed systems.
  • Skilled in Python or Scala for building scalable data solutions.
  • Experience with Spark, Databricks, and streaming technologies (Kafka, Event Hubs).
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices in data environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
