The Following Full-time (38.5 Hours/week)/part-time Position Is To Be Filled As Soon As Possible In The Institute Of Molecular Medicine And Experimentel Immunology (IMME) Of The University Hospital Bonn

Postdoc position in the research project "the role of obesity in reprogramming memory T cell responses" (m/f/d)

The position is to be filled for 2 years.

IMMEI, located at the Medical Faculty Campus of the University Hospital Bonn, provides an exceptional environment for cutting-edge research. Our state-of-the-art facilities offer a platform for collaboration and innovation. The working group is led by Prof. Dr. Zeinab Abdullah ), who has substantial experience and expertise in the field. Her position within the local and global scientific community and her expertise provides a valuable opportunity to make significant contributions to the scientific literature. The project will be carried out within the framework and context of the Immunosensation Cluster of Excellence ).

Tasks

  • Design and execute experiments
  • Stay current with relevant literature and contribute ideas to research project
  • Analyse data and generate publication-quality figures
  • Present results in lab meetings and national/international conferences
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication
  • Contribute progress report obligations to funding bodies
  • Contribute to grant proposals

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or related fields
  • Strong background in immunology
  • FELASA B certification (or equivalent) qualification for animal work
  • Extensive experience of in vivo techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of molecular biology
  • Proficient in flow cytometry and imaging
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • Published research in peer-reviewed journals within the life sciences field
  • Passionate about research with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a research team

Desired Qualifications (not Mandatory But Preferred)

  • Strong background in macrophage biology or liver immunology
  • Strong background in Bioinformatics
  • Experience in proposal writing and project coordination
  • Experience with next generation sequencing approaches scRNA/scATAC etc.
  • Experience with processing and handling of human samples
  • PhD in life sciences (e.g., biology, biomedicine, immunology, or related disciplines) with first-authored publication in an international, peer-reviewed journal.
  • Minimum of five years of postdoctoral research experience in an academic environment.
  • Strong background in immunology, molecular biology, and cell biology; experience with bioinformatic data analysis is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory animals (mice) in accordance with animal welfare regulations; FELASA or equivalent certification mandatory.
  • Extensive expertise in utilizing murine models of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and other bacterial diseases (incl. Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus infections).
  • Proven expertise in design, execution, and analysis of behavioral tests to evaluate stress-related and anxiety-like phenotypes in mice; practical knowledge of Anymaze software is essential.
  • Background in avian immunology and behavioral studies is required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain organoid cultures.
  • Certification as Radiation Protection Officer (Strahlenschutzbeauftragte Fachkunde R3).
  • Experience with advanced imaging techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising and mentoring students and technical personnel.
  • Proven skills in project management and coordination of collaborative research initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written) and good command of German
