We are seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in VMware, Server Infrastructure, IT Operations, and Networking to join our team. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations and ensure the smooth functioning of our technology infrastructure.
Your mission:
• Design and implement VMware-based virtualization infrastructure, including server virtualization, storage, and network virtualization
• Deploy, configure, and manage server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, storage systems, and backup solutions
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure effective planning, implementation, and maintenance of server infrastructure to meet business requirements
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize server infrastructure for performance and scalability
• Manage and maintain VMware vSphere environment, including vCenter, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines
• Design and implement networking solutions, including LAN/WAN infrastructure, switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN connections
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth IT operations, including user support, system maintenance, and software deployments
• Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, standard operating procedures, and infrastructure diagrams
• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in the design and operation of infrastructure systems
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and processes to improve infrastructure efficiency and reliability
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, including backup strategies, data replication, and failover procedures
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to infrastructure engineering and networking
• Continuous development of the IT process automation and system landscape
• First contact person for all IT Administration related topics (user support) in our Nuremberg office
• Technical responsibility for planning and the implementation IT infrastructure project tasks in our Nuremberg office, taking into account the corporate IT strategy and budget
Location: Nuremberg, Germany (full time)
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
To join our team, YOU must HAVE:
• Completed degree in Computer Science or training as an IT Specialist or comparable qualification
• Several years proven experience with IT infrastructure administration with a focus on VMware, server infrastructure, IT operations, and networking.
• Strong knowledge of VMware technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and vSAN.
• Experience with server hardware, storage systems, and backup solutions
• Proficiency in networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls)
• Familiarity with IT operations management tools and practices, such as monitoring, incident management, and change management
• Know-how in administration of Windows and Linux systems
• Solid understanding of security principles and best practices in infrastructure design and operations
• Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are a plus
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) is desirable
• Very Good English communication skills; German language skills are advantageous
