Data Engineer

Location: Cologne (hybrid)

Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to help design and operate a modern cloud-based data platform. In this role you will collaborate across functions to build scalable data products that deliver real business value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimise, and maintain a central data platform using cloud and data mesh principles.
  • Build robust ETL/ELT pipelines, integrate diverse data sources, and design scalable data models.
  • Work in agile, cross-functional squads with data experts, engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Apply tools like Snowflake, AWS, dbt, and Python to deliver high-quality, efficient data solutions.
  • Champion modern development practices including version control, testing, and automation.
  • Drive innovation and take ownership in a flat, collaborative team structure.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of data engineering experience and a degree in informatics or a related field.
  • Proficiency with cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake).
  • Strong SQL and Python skills; experience with dbt is a plus.
  • Solid grasp of data modelling (Data Vault 2.0, bitemporal concepts).
  • AWS experience preferred, Azure and GCP also accepted.
  • Familiarity with DataOps and software engineering best practices.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Fluent German.
