JOB SUMMARY:
Simulation Design and Development Coordinator is responsible for designing, coordinating, and evaluating simulation-based educational programs that align with the INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Standards and Core Competencies. This role supports continuing professional development education (CME, NCPD, CEU), identifies and addresses professional practice gaps, and contributes to strategic initiatives through grant investigation and interprofessional education planning and collaborates across and with external partners to develop, plan and execute simulation-based educational events.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all educational activities and proposals reflect the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Standards and Core Competencies and INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice
- Coordinate and operationalize professional development conferences, workshops, and special events in collaboration with team members
- Collaborates with subject matter experts to effectively design education incorporating diverse teaching methods, technology, and feedback to create accessible, engaging, and impactful learning opportunities.
- Understands and complies with all the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.
- Identifies learning gaps through needs assessments, developing learner-centered goals, objectives, and measurable outcomes.
- Research and identify grant opportunities from federal, state, private, and institutional sources aligned with simulation education and the SSH and INACSL Standards.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals, including gathering data, writing narratives, and compiling budgets.
- Maintain a database of grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
- Use a systematic process to create learning experiences that meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals.
- Incorporates educational design principles and adult learning theory when developing simulation-based education.
- Incorporates principles of adult learning to improve knowledge, skills, and practice.
- Evaluates programs using formal and informal metrics to understand the effectiveness, impact, and areas for improvement of simulation-based education.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and documentation
- Manage logistics including location, registration, catering, AV needs, and travel arrangements.
- Complies with copyright guidance and follows the NC AHEC copyright guidelines for presentations.
- Completes documentation and requirements needed for CME, NCPD, CEU, and other requested credits for continuing education events.
- Reviews submitted presentations by subject matter experts and speakers for copyright compliance.
- Teach and Maintain American Heart Association (AHA) Provider status for: Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Assists with accreditation processes and research studies as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in healthcare, education, technology, administration or related field. Ability to improvise, adapt to highly dynamic environments, and learn new skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills. Ability to move equipment and learning materials (up to 50 pounds). Ability to travel to various other Health Care facilities, as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with healthcare simulation. Organization and project management experience
REQUIRED LICENSES
SCHEDULE:
Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
POSITION COMPENSATION:
$28.94/hour, full time + full benefits available
