What you'll do

We are looking for a (Senior) Developer (f/m/d) for Supply Chain Planning Heuristic team within the SCM Optimization & Data Science unit.

As a (Senior) Developer (f/m/d) you will become a crucial team member who helps us to deliver future superior supply chain planning solutions. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of supply chain planning solutions, working towards autonomous supply chains that address the social, technical, and economic challenges of our time. You will work in our cross-located product team (Walldorf, Munich).

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Be a vital and driving contributor to the full product development cycle.
• Support Product Management in the discovery phase by identifying requirements together with our internal and external customers and partners in industry.
• Support the Architect in creating high-level (architecture) concepts to solve customer problems in an effective and efficient way.
• Drive creation of implementation concepts based on (architecture) concepts.
• Design, implement & extend, test, maintain and document functionality.
• Use agile methodologies such as test-driven development and pair programming to ensure superior product quality.

What you bring

Required Experience and Skills

• University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or comparable qualifications
• Background & passion for operations research (optimization & heuristics) and/or other artificial intelligence methods
• Background in supply chain management area
• Experience with SAP IBP,  SAP APO or other SCM Planning Tools is a plus
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in software engineering in modern cloud architecture and very good programming skills (preferably with C++)
• Very good quality, design, and delivery skills working under short development and continuous delivery conditions
• Have strong problem-solving abilities and capable of making data-driven decisions
• Motivation and result driven attitude with strong customer focus
• A creative, analytical and solution-oriented mind-set
• Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work in and cross-located product teams
• Very good verbal, communication skills with internal stakeholders, customers and partners
• Excellent team player who appreciates an open feedback culture
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills (German strongly preferred)

The SCM Optimization unit develops modern optimization solutions by using optimization and artificial intelligence methods that are used in all applications that industrial companies worldwide use to plan and optimize their business.

The planning procedures are characterized by high scalability concerning the volume to be planned (procedure efficiency), broad functionality and seamless integrations into the logistics and supply chain applications. The solution will natively exploit SAP's state-of-the-art capabilities in SAP Cloud Platform deployed on Kubernetes.
