Job Purpose -

You will work on fulfilling Rakuten's vision of world's first fully virtualized telecom cloud, with homegrown products developed by our world-class engineering team and also using solutions/products from leading vendor partners in this domain. In this role you will be responsible to design and architect end-end virtualized connectivity solutions on top of Rakuten Communications Platform (RCP). You will have the opportunity to take a holistic view of the architecture keeping in mind other interfacing systems, there by realizing Rakuten's vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop NMS software for monitoring network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, SD-WAN, etc.).
  • Implement SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, gRPC, and REST APIs for network device communication.
  • Build real-time dashboards, alerts, and analytics for network performance and health.
  • Develop automation scripts (Python, Ansible) for configuration management and remediation.
  • Enhance fault management, root cause analysis, and predictive maintenance using AI/ML.
  • Integrate NMS with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira) for incident management.
  • Optimize scalability and performance of NMS for large, distributed networks.
  • Ensure security and compliance (e.g., RBAC, encryption, audit logging).
  • Collaborate with network engineers to translate operational needs into software features.
  • For enterprises: Highlight integration with ITSM and security tools.
  • For service providers: Emphasize scalability for large, distributed networks.
  • For cloud providers: Focus on cloud-native NMS architectures.

Required Qualification & Skills:

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in NMS/OSS software development.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go for backend development.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, gRPC, RESTCONF).
  • Experience with time-series databases (InfluxDB, Prometheus) and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
  • Understanding of network architectures (SDN, NFV, SD-WAN, 5G).
  • Proven leadership ability and ability to work with leadership at all levels.
  • Strong analytic reasoning skills and the ability to communicate with ease both internally within the company as well as externally with customers/partners.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and abilities to work with minimum supervision.
