The Product Owner (m/f/d) takes ownership of the product vision, managing the end-to-end product lifecycle for complex technology solutions. They serve as the critical bridge between business stakeholders and development teams, translating objectives and strategies into actionable backlogs, user stories, and requirements. This role is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of platform enhancements that maximize business value while maintaining alignment with organizational objectives. It requires strong leadership in requirement engineering, solution architecture discussions, and vendor management to drive the platform's continuous evolution. Additionally, the Product Owner coordinates squads to deliver change, ensuring effective and aligned change delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
Define and clearly communicate the product vision, strategy, and goals for the Real Estate Investment Platform
- Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog to ensure alignment with business objectives and stakeholder needs
- Prioritize requirements and features based on business value creation, ROI potential, and strategic impact
Ensure product backlog transparency and visibility across development teams and stakeholders
Requirement Engineering
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements
- Translate complex business needs into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria ensuring traceability from concept to deployment
Continuously refine and prioritize requirements to ensure maximum value delivery
Cross-functional Collaboration
Facilitate solution and architecture discussions to enable informed organizational decision-making
- Act as primary liaison between business stakeholders and development teams to ensure solutions are technically feasible, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture, security and compliance standards
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective collaboration and communication
Drive consensus and facilitate decision-making across diverse stakeholder groups
Agile Process Leadership
Lead and participate in key Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
- Present product demonstrations to stakeholders and gather feedback for continuous improvement
Make real-time decisions on scope adjustments and trade-offs during sprint execution
User Research & Customer Focus
Gather and analyze user feedback to inform product decisions and prioritization
- Coordinate user research activities and usability studies to validate product assumptions
- Represent the voice of internal users and external customers in all product discussions
Conduct stakeholder interviews and feedback sessions to ensure user needs are understood and addressed
Vendor & Partner Management
Manage relationships with external software vendors to deliver new product features effectively
- Collaborate with consulting partners to ensure custom software implementations meet business requirements
Participate in contract negotiations and service level agreement (SLA) definitions
Delivery & Performance Management
Ensure successful delivery of new platform increments through effective planning and execution
- Monitor project progress and adapt plans to meet objectives and timelines
- Define, implement, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure platform enhancement success
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify optimization opportunities
Key Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in product management, project management, or related role
Experience in real estate, financial services, or investment management industry strongly preferred
Technical Competencies
Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies (Agile/Scrum)
- Solid knowledge of data processes, including ETL implementation and data management
- Understanding of data structures, integration processes, and system architectures
Experience with product management tools and methodologies
Core Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence without authority
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with focus on value delivery
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in fast-paced environments
- Leadership and facilitation skills with experience driving consensus across diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Credentials & Experience
Master's degree in relevant field or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification
- Previous experience with real estate investment platforms, PropTech, or FinTech solutions
Background in enterprise-level software implementations and financial technology systems
Technical & Industry Expertise
Familiarity with data integration tools, cloud platforms, and modern software architectures
- Knowledge of real estate industry workflows, terminology, and investment processes
- Experience with product analytics, A/B testing, and data-driven product optimization
- Communication & Cultural Fit
- Fluency in German and English (additional European languages advantageous)
- Experience working in international or multicultural business environments
- Proven track record of successful vendor negotiations and contract management
