Senior UAV Autonomy Integration Engineer

We are an early-stage startup funded by leading European VCs with the mission to build advanced small Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs) to strengthen European sovereignty and security. Our focus is on UAV platforms and ground control systems, with plans to expand into maritime, ground, and multi-domain defence systems.

What we're looking for

We're hiring a Senior UAV Autonomy Integration Engineer to lead the integration of autonomy and perception modules into our UAV systems. In this role, you'll collaborate with external partners and vendors to co-develop and integrate advanced autonomy capabilities — ensuring seamless interaction between navigation, perception, and control components across the full autonomy stack.

You'll act as the technical glue between software modules, working across system interfaces, containerized components, and onboard infrastructure to deliver robust, mission-ready autonomy.

The day-to-day

  • Lead integration of autonomy and perception modules (internal and external) into UAV platforms.
  • Collaborate with external development partners for co-development and system integration.
  • Design and maintain "glue code" and interface layers between autonomy, perception, and control modules.
  • Ensure interoperability of third-party containers and modules within onboard and ground systems.
  • Profile and debug multi-module communication for real-time performance and reliability.
  • Work closely with robotics, perception, and embedded teams to validate integrations in simulation and live flight tests.
  • Support field testing, diagnose integration issues, and iterate quickly on system stability and performance.

You should apply if you

  • Have strong experience integrating autonomy, perception, or navigation software in robotics or UAV systems.
  • Are fluent in C++ and/or Python for system integration and middleware development.
  • Understand ROS/ROS2, DDS, or similar robotics communication frameworks.
  • Have hands-on experience working with containerized modules (Docker, OCI) and real-time systems.
  • Can coordinate with external teams and manage complex integration efforts.
  • Have a systems mindset and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment.
  • Are eligible for EU security clearance.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with autonomy frameworks, mission planning, or sensor fusion systems.
  • Knowledge of UAV flight stacks and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Familiarity with simulation environments (Gazebo, AirSim, or similar).
  • Background in defence or dual-use technologies.
