What you'll do

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer (f/m/d) with a strong background in OpenStack, cloud networking, and infrastructure automation to join our SAT team. This role is focused on designing and maintaining cloud-native automation frameworks and observability solutions in highly controlled and secure environments. You will play a key role in engineering infrastructure-as-code (IaC), building REST APIs, supporting CI/CD pipelines, and enabling platform readiness for cloud adoption

Key Responsibilitie

• Design, develop, and maintain automation and observability tooling for hyperscaler-like network environments (e.g., VPNs, subnets, private connectivity, load balancers)
• Engineer and maintain internal RESTful APIs for seamless integration across cloud platforms and internal systems
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar
• Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable automated testing, deployment, and version control.
• Architect, implement, and document Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions that ensure cloud readiness for internal and external stakeholders
• Provide hands-on support for containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and related automation workflows
• Mentor internal teams on cloud-native, DevOps, and automation best practices.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and business stakeholders to translate requirements into production-grade solutions
• Deliver technical documentation, training sessions, and workshops to support onboarding and stakeholder enablement

What You Bring

• 3-5 years in DevOps roles with a strong focus on automation and infrastructure
• 3+ years of experience in Python programming and 2+ years of hands-on experience with at least one hyperscaler cloud platform (AliCloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Strong background in cloud networking concepts (routing, load balancing, VPNs, firewalling, DNS)
• Experience in REST API development and backend integrations
• Ability to design scalable cloud architectures and infrastructure patterns
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps pipelines, and infrastructure security principles
• Excellent stakeholder-facing communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with OpenStack environments and cloud-native infrastructure is highly desirabl
• Willingness to go through personal security clearance (Government process)

The Sovereign Cloud Automation & Tooling (SAT) team builds secure, scalable, and compliant automation solutions for SAP's Sovereign Cloud operations. Our infrastructure spans across regulated markets and hyperscaler-like environments including OpenStack, SAP Cloud Infrastructure (SCI), and public cloud providers. As part of this mission, we develop and maintain internal automation platforms, APIs, and networking foundations that power the delivery of critical cloud services
