Sheet Metal Design Engineer

Your mission

At Zellerfeld, we are reinventing how products are made, and we are looking for a Sheet Metal Design Engineer to help drive the mechanical evolution of our proprietary 3D printers. From concept to production, you will design and refine high-performance sheet metal components that power both our current systems and the platforms of tomorrow.

In this role, you will not just create parts. You will shape the mechanical foundation of the world's most advanced footwear printing technology. Your designs will play a critical role in enhancing the scalability, reliability and quality of the machines that are transforming the entire industry.

Your profile
Your Role

• Design and develop precision sheet metal components and assemblies for our in-house 3D printer platforms.
• Optimize parts for manufacturability, cost efficiency and scalability, with a strong focus on bending, laser cutting and joining processes.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, production teams and suppliers to align design, functionality and fabrication constraints.
• Support prototyping, testing and iterative refinement of mechanical components.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete, including drawings, BOMs and release packages.
• Provide technical input to improve our hardware architecture, from internal builds to outsourced manufacturing.

Your Profile

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design with a focus on sheet metal fabrication.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or a comparable 3D tool, including flat pattern development and tolerance analysis.
• Solid understanding of metal materials, forming techniques and fabrication standards.
• Experience working with suppliers and production teams to transition designs from prototype to manufacturing.
• A structured mindset and attention to detail, paired with a proactive, hands-on attitude.
• English fluency required. German is a plus.
