Role Description

The Investment Banking Analyst provides analytical, financial, and research support for corporate finance transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital raising, and strategic advisory services. This role involves preparing financial models, conducting valuation analyses, and assisting senior bankers in executing client mandates. The analyst plays a vital role in supporting the firm's investment banking activities by delivering high-quality financial insights and detailed market research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial analysis, including valuation, discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company, and precedent transaction modeling.
  • Build and maintain complex financial models to support transaction structuring and decision-making.
  • Prepare pitch books, presentations, and investment memoranda for clients and internal use.
  • Perform industry and company research to identify potential investment opportunities and trends.
  • Support due diligence processes for M&A, equity, and debt transactions.
  • Analyze company financial statements, business performance, and market conditions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, and accounting, to ensure accurate deal execution.
  • Assist in transaction documentation and client communication under the supervision of senior bankers.
  • Track market developments, investor sentiment, and economic indicators affecting corporate finance activities.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives by identifying prospects and supporting client relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's or MBA preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in investment banking, financial analysis, or related areas (internship experience acceptable for entry-level candidates).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling techniques.
  • Understanding of corporate finance, capital markets, and valuation methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
  • English fluency required; Japanese language skills are advantageous for Japan-based positions.
  • Certifications such as CFA or CPA (or progress toward them) are a plus.
