What to Expect

Tesla is at the forefront of innovation in sustainable energy, and our Cell Assembly team is critical to achieving our mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager to coordinate multiple cells builds which involve prototype validation and pre-production builds. This role will be pivotal in ensuring seamless integration of engineering efforts, timely delivery of prototypes, and alignment with production goals.

What You'll Do

  • Project Coordination: Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of Cell Build projects ensuring alignment with Tesla's aggressive timelines and quality standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams (design, process, and testing), manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance to ensure cohesive progress and issue resolution.
  • Timeline Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, identifying critical paths and mitigating risks to ensure on-time delivery of cell builds for testing and validation.
  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support build activities while optimizing efficiency.
  • Risk Assessment: Proactively identify technical and operational risks, proposing and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project goals.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status updates, technical reports, and lessons learned, to facilitate knowledge transfer and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates to senior leadership and stakeholders on project status, challenges, and milestones, ensuring transparency and alignment with strategic objectives.

What You'll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field) or equivalent experience. A Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in a technical or manufacturing environment, preferably in battery cell development, automotive, or high-tech industries.
  • Technical Knowledge: manufacturing processes, and testing protocols, particularly during prototype and pre-production phases.
  • Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or similar).
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Preferred: Experience with Tesla's development methodologies or prior work in electric vehicle or energy storage projects.
