Job Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator reports to and receives assignments from the Foreman or General Foreman and is responsible for operating designated heavy machinery or equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment in multiple environments.

  • Perform routine maintenance checks on heavy equipment and report any issues to the supervisor.

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow.

  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

  • Follow the directions given by ground guides.

  • Continuously analyze the work environment for hazards and stop operations, if required, to correct hazards. 

  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment.

  • Must have a verifiable heavy equipment operator's certification or license.

  • Requires proficiency in the operation of heavy equipment, such as Graders, Rollers, Dozers, 8k-30k Forklifts, and Container Handlers/Rough Terrain Container Handlers (RTCH)

  • Requires a strong understanding of and adherence to safety procedures, protocols, and guidelines for heavy equipment operation.

  • Must have excellent communication skills.

  • Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 70 pounds on a frequent basis.

  • Must be able to lift, crouch, bend, reach and climb in all weather conditions.

  • Requires a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity and 6 blank pages.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • Additional certifications related to specific types of heavy equipment.
