THE ROLE & THE TEAM
As the
IT Manager (all genders)
for our brand-new fulfilment centre in Gießen , you will support the ramp-up of the technical systems and IT infrastructure from the very first moment. You will build and develop your IT team from scratch, creating the best possible foundation for an optimum IT service on-site. As one of the first members of the local Zalando team, you have a unique chance to help build the success of this location. In this role, you will be responsible for all IT Support and Infrastructure within the fulfilment centre.

You and your team will act as the owners of these systems, providing continuous and excellent IT support to ensure flawless operations. Your strong customer focus will be a key factor for success as you build on the performance your team delivers and increase its visibility with all relevant stakeholders. You will serve as the trusted partner for all IT-related topics for local stakeholders. Wherever you see potential for improvement, you are invited to scale the concept to the whole department and beyond, becoming a true driver for innovation.

This role also requires a willingness to travel up to 10%.

• Build and lead an IT team of up to nine IT Support Technicians and Engineers from scratch in our brand-new, highly automated 150,000 m² warehouse in Gießen.
• Influence the strategic direction of our entire IT network by acting as a business consultant on all local projects and scaling successful concepts across the department and beyond.
• Go beyond local management and take on expanded responsibility that directly links to our company-wide goals and mission to deliver a new quality standard.
• Shape our culture of excellence by prioritizing professional growth and fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.
• Leave a lasting legacy by creating the best possible foundation for a world-class IT service within our logistics network.

• You are an experienced IT leader with at least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, possessing strong analytical skills to utilise data for informed decision-making and risk minimisation.
• You are a highly organised, hands-on leader who is excited by a "greenfield" environment and has a passion for modern technology and logistics systems.
• You are a true strategist with a business-first mindset, capable of translating long-term visions into actionable IT roadmaps that directly impact operational efficiency, growth, and profitability.
• You are an excellent communicator, a natural bridge-builder between technical teams and business stakeholders, who can build strong relationships at all levels.
• You have a proven track record of creating a positive and productive work environment and are fluent in both German and English .
• You are open to travel up to 10%

*ZALANDO GIESSEN*
Our European logistics network is growing We are currently in the preparatory phase for the opening of our new site in Gießen (Hesse), which is only an hour away from Frankfurt am Main. The 130,000 square meter, state-of-the-art logistics center will be operated by Zalando and is designed for up to 1,700 employees. From this location, customers in Germany and neighboring markets will receive their parcels starting in the summer of 2026.

Our logistics employees ensure that more than 50 million Zalando customers in more than 25 European markets reliably receive their orders every day. Today, Zalando has a Europe-wide logistics network with twelve locations in seven countries. In Germany alone, around 6,000 employees from over 100 nations work at five Zalando logistics sites.
